Preventative care is your first line of defense against gum disease and tooth decay. Without the proper balance of brushing, flossing, and cleaning, gum disease can take hold in your mouth. Gum disease can cause red swollen and painful gums, bad breath, gum reduction, and in severe cases even tooth loss. Here at MFDC, we see ourselves as your teammates in maintaining a happy, healthy, and beautiful smile. Our hygienists are sensitive to the needs of individuals with all levels of dental health. Whether it is providing education on proper dental care, a regular cleaning, or working with you to stop and reverse the effects of gum disease, our hygienists will provide you with the best care in the Boise area. Regular cleanings and checkups are an important part of maintaining a healthy mouth.

Most dental insurances cover preventative care at 100% meaning no out of pocket cost to you. You only have one set of teeth and gums; let us help you make sure they are as healthy as possible. Give our office a call today to schedule an appointment with one of our knowledgeable and caring hygienists. Your teeth and gums will thank you.

Restorative services help to restore the integrity of your teeth, and stop the damage from spreading further. The x-rays taken and the examination done during your regular cleaning appointment allows Dr. Paventy to access the health of your teeth and determine the need for intervention. The most common restorative service needed is a filling. During a filling, the Dr. removes the tooth decay and fills the space (usually) with a composite resin filling. Gold and silver fillings do not expand and contract with the tooth during exposure to cold or heat. This can sometimes allow foreign matter such as food and bacteria to wedge itself under the filling causing decay to develop. Composite resin fillings however, have the ability to expand and contract with the tooth creating a better seal and a more permanent solution to stop tooth decay.

In addition, composite resin fillings are the color of your tooth and cannot be seen the way a gold or silver filling can. Another common restorative service is a crown. A crown can often help save a tooth whose integrity is weakened. Crowns cover the tooth, and can bring back stability and integrity. The health of your mouth is of the upmost importance to us. Not only is a beautiful smile important, but healthy and functional teeth are needed by everyone. It is our goal to make sure every one of our patients have the smile they want and the dental care they need; maintaining the integrity of your teeth is an important part of that.

While general dentistry addresses the health and hygiene of a patient’s mouth, cosmetic dentistry focuses more on improving the appearance of your smile, while also providing restorative benefits.
